We're on a mission from God

My cable TV box has, roughly 200 channels that I can watch. And probably another 200 channels that I can't watch. And yet there's nothing ever on except for Friends, CSI, Will & Grace and occasionally Benny Hill.

And this isn't a totally bad thing - I quite like relaxing to an episode of one of those shows. Er, except Benny Hill. I can live without that.

So tonight, while putting off my freelance work by an extra few minutes, I choose to flick through the channels to confirm there's nothing on, and then possibly watch an episode of Will & Grace etc etc.

True enough, there's nothing on... until... I stumble across possibly the finest night of programming ever. EVER!

Look at this...

Oh, incredible. Not one, but BOTH Blues Brothers films, back to back! In my humble opinion, the original Blues Brothers film is the best film of all time. I have it on DVD, but alas I need a British DVD player to watch it - which I don't have.

Interestingly enough, I was in Chicago a couple of weeks ago on a quick get-away-from-Dallas trip, and I had a Blues moment. As I walked out of my hotel, the first thing I heard was the sound of the "L" Elevated trains that they have - a sound heard throughout the Blue Brothers film.

At was as if I was there with Jake and Elwood. So that evening I went to the House of Blues for a beer and a plate of mediocre nachos.

Another part of my American dream has come true.

If you've never watched the film, you must. It is superb. Incredibly good. It has a great soundtrack, some really cool cameos, and possibly the best car chase in any film.
